DomiKnow Learning Profile

1. I learn best when...
I learn best when I feel comfortable in an area or around people and I have something to fidget with or move around. Tapping my hand on the table or my pencil against a table leg works perfectly, but that tends to annoy those around me and would make me feel uncomfortable to be around them. I don't really like sitting in the front because I'm afraid a teacher will think I'm distracted, but I lose focus more easily in the back of the classroom.

2. I need to...
I need to be doing something at the same to in order to focus, but I sometimes get carried away and start focusing on something else instead of what I should be paying attention to. For example, if I'm trying to listen to a long lecture during class, it helps to have maybe a stress ball or something in hand to scrunch or just to move around in my hand. I can't stay still while listening, so if I have nothing to hold, then I start tapping a pencil, which is ironic since hearing tapping noises easily distracts and annoys me unless I'm the source.

3. The strategies that would help me in my learning...
The strategies that would help me in my learning would either be brain gym, having a stress ball or being in a place or around people that I feel comfortable with. Being profile L, Lazy 8's and Thinking Caps are very effective for helping me use both hemispheres of my brain and calming myself. Being too stressed will not only distract myself and others, but it can completely disable my ability to pay attention and complete my work. Thinking properly becomes a feat.

4. I would like my teachers to know this about me...
I would like my teachers to know that I like to be either in the middle rows of a classroom or in the back so I'll feel comfortable and that if I'm fidgeting with something, it usually means I'm focusing even if I'm not looking at the teacher. I won't be focusing if I'm chatting with someone (unless I'm asking a question).
